This page is dedicated to South African Railways N-Gauge modeling.

Contrary to the HO-Gauge modeling world, N-Gauge has very little to offer with regards to South African Railways models. for this reason, some club members have taken it upon themselves "kit-bash" existing models and create SAR stock.

This is a model produced by Chris Coetzer Blue Train class 6E electrical locomotives. These locomotives are used to draw the world famous Blue Train between Pretoria and Cape Town.

John Mc Alinden has done quite a bit of work in converting models to SAR stock.

He built this Garret from 2 Y6B Mallet  Rivarosi steam loco’c.

He loosely based the Garret on a S.A.R. Union Garret Class U he found in a book on Garrets he owns.

The prototype Garret is a 2-6-2  2-6-2 with the tender that cannot move independently such as the larger Garret's

His model is a variation 2-6-0 0-6-2 because he could not find space for all the bogies. This model's motor is still in the same place as in the Y6B, and drives all the driver wheels.
